Ghetto Gastro’s Malcolm Livingston II—a.k.a., The Ice Lord—is a bonafide pastry guru. A graduate of the Culinary Art Institute of New York City, Livingston came up working at fine-dining meccas like Le Cirque and Per Se before becoming head pastry chef at NYC’s influential hub of molecular gastronomy, wd~50. Most recently, Livingston was slinging bucket-list–worthy desserts at Noma, a two-Michelin-star restaurant in Copenhagen known for leading the New Nordic movement. Suffice to say, the Bronx native knows a thing or two about sweets.

In the series opener of Food Skills at Home with Ghetto Gastro, Livingston shows us his "Legends of the Fall" recipe for a savory apple pie. Not quite your grandma’s apple pie ("it's better," he says), this riff on the classic autumn dessert is bound to impress even the most discerning of dinner guests.
