Last year, Danish pepper-eating legend Chili Klaus agreed to join Hot Ones host Sean Evans to take on the infamous Carolina Reaper, the world's spiciest chili pepper. And though once the excruciating ordeal was over, Sean promised to stick solely to the wings moving forward, today the Scoville-fueled bromance continues on a horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park.
The reunion starts off innocent enough, with the old friends catching up on a sunny afternoon in New York City ("Hey, look, Chili Klaus, I think that's where they shot You've Got Mail!"). But the day takes a bizarre and painful turn when the pair decide to crack open a mystery package from their fiendish friend "Smokin' Ed" Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Company in Fort Mill, SC.
While the Carolina Reaper is the hottest category of pepper on the planet—typically clocking in at around 2.2 million Scoville units—Smokin' Ed’s Frankenstein-like take on the beast currently holds the world record for spiciest chili.
Clearly, Sean and Chili Klaus didn’t learn their lessons last time around. Generally unfazed by super-spicy hot sauces like Pain 100% and Mad Dog 357, the Carolina Reaper is an entirely different beast, and the duo can be seen tearing up and hiccuping in a matter of moments.
