With David Chang’s Fuku sparking hysteria in the East Village and Chick-fil-A still plotting its Manhattan takeover, we’ve been eagerly tracking NYC’s impending chicken-sandwich onslaught recently. The x-factor in the game has been Shake Shack, whose August 20 trademark filing for “ChickenShackTM” sparked widespread conjecture about a poultry-based spinoff of the cultish burger chain.

Now, in true Beyoncé fashion, Shack Shack has unexpectedly announced the debut of its first ever chicken sandwich (dubbed the ChickenShack), available at Brooklyn locations starting today. Here are the deets from the press release:

The ChickenShackTM ($6.29) is a crispy all-natural and antibiotic-free chicken breast with lettuce, pickles and buttermilk herb mayo. The ChickenShack is available exclusively at our Brooklyn Shacks (409 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn, 1 Old Fulton Street in DUMBO and 170 Flatbush Avenue across from the Barclays Center) starting on July 7, 2015 for a limited time.

When it comes to summer, nothing goes better with a picnic-perfect crispy chicken sandwich than an ice cold Shack-made peach lemonade (Regular: $2.75/Large: $3.50) or a cold and creamy Brooklyn Pie oh My concrete (vanilla frozen custard blended with a slice of Four & Twenty Blackbirds strawberry balsamic pie; Single: $4.50/Double: $6.75), exclusively at the Brooklyn Shacks. No word yet on when this sandwich will spread its wings beyond Kings County, or how long it will last, but we have to wonder if this release is the first phase of product testing for a potential all-chicken-sandwich ChickenShack concept.
