We’re living in an age of mashup-food mania, a time in which a new frankenfood unveils itself everyday. To help you keep up with all the new hypebeast snacks on the scene, we’ll be doing a weekly roundup of ridiculous mashup foods you need to know about right now, and ranking them on staying power. Read on!

Bagel + Ice Cream = Everything Bagel Ice Cream

The mashup: You have to love a company whose mission statement is to make “the best and weirdest ice cream in the world.” To deliver on that promise, Philadelphia’s Little Baby’s Ice Cream has made some wacky flavors indeed, including Cucumber Dill, Irish Potato, Pizza, and Everything Bagel.

Staying power: High. According to Twitter, bits of ice cream soaked bread, dried onion pieces, garlic and onion powder, and poppy and sesame seeds is “legit good” according to one user and was the highlight of another user‘s weekend. Not that we needed any convincing on the merits of combining breakfast and dessert, but we’re definitely sold on it now. (Photo: Facebook/ Little Baby’s Ice Cream)

Pie + Cake = Pumpecapple Piecake

Photo: Three Brothers Bakery

The mashup: Houston’s Three Brothers Bakery could actually be trying to kill you with this 23.5 pound monster dessert. The 11-inch tower is made up of three different cakes (spiced, chocolate, and pumpkin spice) layered on top of each other, and each layer has an actual pie (apple, pecan, and pumpkin) baked into it. Then the whole thing is encased in cream cheese icing and garnished with pecan pieces and caramel drizzle. The only thing that’s missing is a warning sticker.

Staying power: High. The piecake has already proven to have staying power; it was even featured in an episode of the Food Network’s Outrageous Food back in 2011. If you’re interested in seeing how the monster is made, here’s the video in which owner Bobby Jucker recreates it for the show. Our favorite part is when host Tom Pizzica says to Chucker “why are you doing this?”. (Photo: Three Brothers Bakery)

Pigs in a Blanket + Pizza = Metti Crust Pizza

Photo: Pizza Hut Luxembourg

The mashup: Pizza Hut in Luxembourg has taken the idea of the stuffed crust and given it a local spin with traditional mettwurst, a cured and smoked pork sausage. Each banger is actually wrapped in bread like a pig in a blanket, and can be pulled apart to dunk in a mustard dipping sauce.

Staying power: Medium. Pizza Hut hasn’t made clear how long this promo pie will be around for, but we have faith the chain will continue finding new ways to add various forms of meat to their pizzas. Hopefully the future ones will also utilize local flavors, because we’d love to see another national specialty on a pie: smoked pork neck with bacon, bean, and potato stew. Cheeseburger + Doughnut = Bacon Cheeseburger D’oh Nut

lalala

The mashup: Does is get more Amurican than a bacon cheeseburger-filled doughnut? Nah. This $13 creation from Philly’s PYT Burger consists of a warm, glazed doughnut filled with a beef patty and American cheese. Bacon sprinkles redefine the concept of “gilding the lily.”

Staying power: Medium. This is one in a long line of PYT’s crazy burger stunts, none of which have stuck around for very long after making headlines. Then again, there really isn’t anyone we know who doesn’t like glazed doughnuts and hamburgers.
