Today in Washington, voters are deciding whether or not food that contains genetically modified ingredients should be labeled as such. If Washington adopts ballot initiative 522, it will become the first state in the nation to require—with no strings attached—the labeling of foods that contain genetically modified ingredients.

Huffington Post reports that The Grocery Manufacturers Association, which collected money from some of the nation’s top food companies, and five major corporations have raised $22 million to defeat Initiative 522. Food-labeling supporters have raised just $7.8 million. The initiatives supporters say they have the right to know what’s in the food they buy, and opponents claim that the initiative would lead to higher food costs.

We say, there should be complete transparency in regards to what were eating. This puts the choice of whether or not we want to eat GMO foods in our own hands.
