Now this is a particularly imaginative way to smuggle drugs: A Trinidadian man was held by U.S. Customs officers after they found about 7.35 pounds of cocaine hidden in frozen goat meat in his suitcase.
The man, Yudistir Maharaj, left aboard a Caribbean Airlines flight destined for JFK Airport on March 20, reports Trinidad Express, and was caught by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection after they found the coked-up goat meat. When officials X-rayed the three packages of frozen goat meat found in Maharaj’s luggage, three “square-like objects” were found inside.

Metro.us reports that, “When probed, the frozen packages of meat produced a white powder that tested positive for cocaine.”
The blow found in the meat had an estimated street value of $1.2 million to $1.8 million, according to Trinidad Express. Maharaj, in his statement, claimed he did not know the narcotics were in his suitcase. Who knows, maybe he just wanted to make some curried goat stew when he arrived in New York. Now the goat meat is ruined!
