America’s first dog cafe is slated to open in L.A. in February, and will simply be called The Dog Cafe (great name). Its founder, Sarah Wolfgang, spent time working in dog shelters in Korea, where she found that dog cafes are quite popular.
The pups at The Dog Cafe in L.A. will be shelter dogs looking for homes, and proceeds from the cafe will benefit local dog shelters. Wolfgang talks to LA Weekly about her mission,
Wolfgang is aiming to raise $200,000 by February 5th through a GoFundMe campaign to fund the cafe. Donate now, because if a dog cafe in America isn’t a cause worthy of your hard-earned dollars, we don’t know what is.
There won’t be any food at The Dog Cafe, but there will be coffee and tea to sip while you look for a puppy to adopt, or simply to cuddle with.
“The Dog Cafe is for everyone,” Wolfgang tells LA Weekly. “We want people to come in and cuddle with our pooches even if they aren’t interested in adopting.”
The coffee will come from Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co., which donates 20 percent of its profit from each purchase to a local shelter.
Here’s a video that you should watch shot in a unrelated dog cafe in Seoul called Puppy Spoon. Why? Because the work day’s almost over, you’re not even doing work, and puppies are so damn cute.
See you at the cafe in L.A., dog lovers!
