This fall, Food Network's newest program will show celebrities trying their hand at the hardest job in the restaurant business—cooking on the line.
According to a press release, Star Plates will feature famous faces like Mindy Kaling, Alyson Hannigan, Colin Hanks, Minka Kelly, Erin Andrews, and Busy Philipps, documenting their journey as they "navigate the grueling responsibilities of working as a line cook in his or her favorite chef’s restaurant."
And joining them to explain the nuts and bolts of the industry will be chefs Marcus Samuelsson, Susan Feniger, Michael Voltaggio, Vinny Dotolo, Dakota Weiss, and Geoffrey Zakarian.
This won't be some staged back-lot production either: the episodes will take place inside of the restaurants where the chefs actually work, and the customers in the dining room will actually be paying for their meals—something not often seen in cooking shows.
And if the chefs plan to let loose like Gordon Ramsay, you can guarantee we'll be front row center for every episode. Star Plates premiers on the Food Network September 27th.
