It’s been a big 24 hours for mass-produced cookies. First, Oreo unveiled its new Swedish Fish-flavored products, smooshing pats of blood red crème filling between two chocolate wafers. And now, in decidedly more appetizing news, the Girl Scouts, defenders of all that is pure and holy in this world, have announced new s'mores cookies in honor of National S’mores Day.
Aptly titled “Girl Scout S’mores,” the cookies come in two different flavors and mark the first new addition to the catalogue since 2015. One version features a graham cookie “double dipped in a crème icing and enrobed in a chocolatey coating,” while the other boasts a graham sandwich cookie with a “chocolate and marshmallowy filling,” according to the Girl Scouts' blog. In other words: It’s lit.
The addition of the Girl Scout S’mores—which also marks the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts selling cookies—could challenge the market dominance held by items like Thin Mints and Samoas in years past. The cookies also seem poised for greater success than the three flavors introduced last January: Toffee-tastic, Trios, and Rah-Rah Raisins.
Unfortunately, the Girl Scout S’mores won’t be available until 2017, so for now you how might have to make do with a marshmallow stuffed between a couple Tagalongs.
