It might be time to switch your can of tuna for something a little fresher.

According to ABC News, Bumble Bee has recalled 31,579 cans of five-ounce Chunk Light Tuna due to fears over “spoilage organisms or pathogens” that could produce “life-threatening illness if consumed.” So far, the specifics of what type of life-threatening illnesses might be contracted are unclear, but the “life-threatening” part suggests they are no joke.

CNBC notes that the spoilage originated at a third-party packing facility, where there was some problem with the sterilization process. Now, Bumble Bee is working with the Food and Drug Administration to “expedite the removal of products from commerce,” the brand explains in a statement. When the going gets tough, always blame it on someone else!
