Fishing can be a pretty dangerous sport—specially if you’re trying to hook a monstrous fish notorious for putting up a huge fight.
When Conor Cogan and his fishing buddies went out to Port Stephens, Australia for a day of fishing, the men hooked a gigantic marlin who refused to go down without a battle. The fish, which weighed in at 198-pounds, was reeled onto the boat, flailing about before nearly puncturing Cogan in the head with its spear-like snout.
Cogan uploaded the close call to Facebook where he writes, “That’s pretty much as close as it gets.”
According to National Geographic, blue marlins use their long bills to stun their prey. In this case, it looks as though the marlin’s whole body stunned Cogan pretty hard. That’s got to hurt.
