Carolina Panthers’ star Cam Newton is not only a talented quarterback, but also a talented wordsmith. In a press conference yesterday after his team’s win in the NFC Championship game, which securing their spot in the Super Bowl, Newton dropped the most err, delicious, analogies.

When discussing the Panthers’ season this year, Newton described it as a “process” and compared it to cooking instant grits versus collard greens: “It was a process. It wasn’t going to be… instant grits, quick grits. It’s going to be a process like long-cooked collard greens. I think those collard greens are brewing right now, you can smell them from a mile away.”
Good things come to those who wait. As USA Today clarifies, while instant grits are quick to make, the results are “terrible, all of the time.” Now the real question is, how does Newton feel about peanuts in his collard greens?
