Are you a ramen addict? Do you wish you could enjoy the umami richness of the noodle soup whenever you wanted without having to lug around heavy vats of broth? You’re in luck: According to Rocket News 24, Japanese retailer Nissen has teamed up with local candy maker Pine to make a hard candy that tastes just like tonkotsu, or pork stock flavored soup.
The two companies ran a contest looking for new flavor suggestions. Out of the 6,000 submission, judges picked ramen soup and the companies set about developing the flavor. After five months, the candy has officially hit the market ($2.80 for a 3.5-ounce bag). Unfortunately there is no noodle flavored candy to pair with it.
The candies are not the first Japanese innovation that helps people take their ramen obsessions to new levels. The candies are probably best enjoyed while sitting in one of the ramen baths found at a spa in Hakone, Japan. Allegedly, the bath is good for the skin and can increase a person’s metabolism. As for a perfect post-noodle bath treat? Ramen enthusiasts can slurp down Cup Noodle-flavored ice cream.
