People allegedly consume an average of four spiders whilst sleeping per year. If that statistic hasn’t already instilled a good amount of fear in you, listen to this: After picking up some weekly groceries at her local Walmart, Michigan resident Ariel Jackson came face-to-face with the most venomous and deadly spider in North America. We’re talking about the black widow.

The eight-legged creature came to Jackson’s attention after she began rinsing her produce. She could see the spider squirming about as the water began irritating it’s newfound home. Alarmed, Jackson called 9-1-1 asking the dispatcher for advice on how to handle the situation.

She tells Fox 8,

“When I called them, I was like, ‘Um, this really isn’t an emergency, but I have a black widow spider,’ and he’s like, ‘Just kill it.’ And I’m like, ‘Me? You want me to kill it?'”

Luckily for Jackson, she didn’t have to be the one to kill it. Both her boyfriend and brother were present and more than willing to help get rid of the insect intruder.

The situation has prompted both Jackson and her boyfriend to swear off grapes and opt for apples as their go-to healthy snack.
