A recent study by Swift Key analyzes the most popular emojis used in each state. The findings show that out of the 50 states, only eight use a food emoji most frequently. Two states, Nevada and Minnesota, particularly stand out for their large use of the eggplant and peach emoji, respectively.
What was most likely created to remind your dad to pick up an eggplant or peach while he’s out at the store turned into two of the world’s most recognizable euphemistic emojis (along with the smirking face, obviously).
Even after Instagram banned hashtagging the purple vegetable for it’s “violation of community guidelines,” bros across the country continued to use the eggplant emojis to attempt to slide into DMs.
Fortunately, not every state’s favorite food emoji alludes to something fallic. Here is a list of the 6 other most popular food emojis broken down by state:
Utah
Favorite Emoji: Lollipop
Texas
Favorite Emoji: Grapes
Iowa
Favorite Emoji: Corn
Pennsylvania
Favorite Emoji: Cherry
Ohio
Favorite Emoji: Ice Cream
Michigan
Favorite Emoji: Strawberry
