Uproxx writer Josh Kurp witnessed the world’s most unfortunate wedding proposal mistake.

At a Benihana-style hibachi restaurant, a man proposed to his fiancé in a manner most girls only dream of—with their initials spelled out in big piles of fried rice.

Sadly, what could have turned out to be the proposal of the century turned into a photo the Internet will never let the couple live down. The chef chose an unfortunate arrangement of the couple’s initials. Instead of spelling out ‘AL♡AN,’ this happened:

It looks like some of the other people at the restaurant also noticed the mistake.

On the bright side, at least the couple will now make sure to double check any future wedding accessories that feature their initials.
