KFC knows we can’t eat chicken all the time, but our appetite for entertainment never goes away. That’s why it came up with the online arcade game Colonel Quest, where you learn about five key points in the Colonel’s life and play simple, fun games to win drumsticks.
This is just one piece of the chain’s massive rebranding campaign to get people to fall in love with KFC all over again. The fried-chicken chain hired the hugely talented celebrity impersonator and comedian Darrell Hammond (of SNL) to bring the Colonel back to life in a series of YouTube videos.
The chain also took the thoughtful step of designing a Bluetooth-enabled rechargeable keyboard as a paper tray insert, so you can use your smartphone and eat fried chicken without making a mess. Genius.
Let’s take a deeper look at the next-level Colonel-themed arcade game, which you can play on the Colonel Quest website. The games vary in difficulty, and just like a lot of old-school video games, can be surprisingly frustrating the first time you play. You can skip any game you want to get ahead to another, and can choose to replay any level as well.
Here’s a brief walkthrough of what to expect as you play.
Level 1: Sixth Grade Dropout
Level 2: Baby Business
Level 3: Courtroom Brawl!
Level 4: Gas Station Shootout
Level 5: Chicken Time
One other thing to note: The video game is smartly programmed so that if you move away from the tab where you have it open, the music immediately stops so it doesn’t drive you crazy. Good job at keeping us entertained, KFC.
