Hummus, the official dip of the NFL, has taken a beating as of late. Word came yesterday that 30,000 cases of Sabra hummus sold nationwide are being recalled due to a possible Listeria contamination.

What’s listeria? A food-borne bacteria that can cause everything from high fevers and nausea, to death (in children and people with weakened immune systems) and miscarriages in pregnant women. Listeria can also thrive in deli meats and hot dogs.

You thinking what we’re thinking? Oh shit, I just polished off that container of hummus late night after getting back from drinks.

If you’re freaking out about tainted hummus, you’re not alone. It seems that many people, like you, are addicted to hummus—which means we’re all at risk for fever, nausea, and DEATH BY HUMMUS.

The public’s reaction to the tainted Sabra has ranged from apathy, to hysteria, to denial. Let’s take a look.

Laughing in the face of listeria

Too addicted to care

Showing actual fear

Unfazed, still hates hummus
