Did you grow up watching Will Wonka, thinking: Why, God, is this not real life?!?
Us too. Well, you’ll be glad to know that over in the UK, KFC is pulling some serious Wonka-esque shit right now.
Today, KFC unveiled an edible version of its coffee cup made from cookie, wrapped in sugar paper, and lined with a layer of white chocolate (which keeps the coffee hot and the cup crispy #genius).
The edible cup, which is branded with the chain’s logo to make it look ultra-real, has been dubbed the ‘Scoff-ee Cup’ by the chain.
KFC partnered with food scientists at The Robin Collective in the UK to develop the feastible cups. The engineering of the cup is next-level: “As the white chocolate layer melts, the biscuit slowly softens, melting in the mouth but not the hand,” writes Metro UK. We’re getting a little flushed thinking about that.
The cups are infused with different scents known to elevate your mood. A spokesperson for The Robin Collective explains,
Two things we’re left wondering: 1) What brand of Lucy are those creatives at KFC dropping? 2) Is Dominique Ansel going to get royalties for this shit?
The cups have not yet been released in the UK, but Metro UK suggests they could be in stores by summer.
