Are gingerbread men sexist? If you think they might be, you’ll be pleased to know that the Organic Food & Wine Deli in Melbourne, Australia is doing its bit to fight the patriarchy—by using non-gender-specific labeling on the popular holiday confection.
A photo of the inordinately PC cookies, which are also organic and vegan, made the social media rounds in October and was posted on Reddit with the caption “So this is what the world is coming to…”.
Responses to the Portlandia-worthy signage have been equal part scathing and mirthful.
But deli owner Jeanette Taylor isn’t paying her haters no mind, telling the Herald Sun that “it’s just a bit of fun” and “we like people to think about what they say and do and be responsible.”

We once thought Pepperidge Farm Ginger Bread Family cookies were inclusive, but now we see them for the insidious gender-normative anthropomorphic baked goods they really are.
Stay woke, y’all. The non-denominational holiday struggle is real.
