We’re living in an age of mashup-food mania, a time in which a new frankenfood unveils itself everyday. To help you keep up with all the new hypebeast snacks on the scene, we’ll be doing a weekly roundup of ridiculous mashup foods you need to know about right now, and ranking them on staying power. Read on!

Snickers + Donut = Snickers Bar Donut

The mashup: California Donuts in L.A. gets a standing ovation for this brilliance—a donut stuffed with a whole snickers bar, deep fried so the chocolate gets gooey, and then rolled in peanuts and chocolate chips. *Drool*

Staying power: High. It’s been sporadically available since it debuted a month ago and changed everything; new batches are usually announced on the shop’s Instagram. Neighbors, please start stocking up now for when we come trick or treating. Believe when we say we will egg your house.

Ramen + Burrito = Black Cod Ramen Burrito

The mashup: Orange County’s Slapfish seafood restaurant teased this via Instagram a few days ago by posting a tantalizing photo with tantalizingly few details. The caption reads “Sneak peak of what’s to come: Black Cod Ramen Burrito. Gulp.”

Staying power: Medium. It’s a tough call to make since there is almost no information to work with. From the photo it looks like the burrito contains noodles, fried cod, tomato, enoki mushroom, onion, nori, scallions, and some kind of mystery sauce. So far so good, but the big question is: Will the noodles be too dry without any broth?

Burger + Burrito = Cheeseburger Burrito

The mashup: California Tortilla isn’t in California, it’s in D.C. That’s the first sign that these guys are tricksier than hobbitses. The second sign is that their newest menu item sounds suspiciously like a normal burrito. It’s filled with ground beef, avocado, salsa, sauce, lettuce, jalapenos, rice and queso.

Staying power: Medium. The cheeseburger part is a bit of a stretch, but a burrito by any other name still tastes damn good. We’re pretty sure people are going to eat this as long as it’s on the menu, which Eater reports is through the end of year. (Photo: California Tortilla)

Burger + Croque Madame = Croque Van Damme

The mashup: Mathew Ramsey is inventing a new burger every week for a year, and posting them on his appropriately titled Porn Burger blog. This one riffs on a Croque Madame (a ham, cheese, and egg sandwich). What you’re perving over is a beef patty, smoked gruyere, country ham, duck egg, dijon mustard, and parmesan bechamel stacked on a Belgian waffle–which explains the Muscles from Brussels reference.

Staying power: High. This may not be commercially available, but it’s going to haunt our dreams.
