In Chipotle’s 2013 annual report, the company states that it could have to nix guacamole from its menu. Why would Chipotle commit such a crime? Because climate change and dramatic shifts in weather have royally messed up the avocado market. The report states that changes in weather patterns “could have a significant impact on the price or availability of some of our ingredients,” and,

“In the event of cost increases with respect to one or more of our raw ingredients, we may choose to temporarily suspend serving menu items, such as guacamole or one or more of our salsas, rather than paying the increased cost for the ingredients.”

Think Progress reports Chipotle uses 97,000 pounds of avocado daily to make its guac. So, this is kind of a big deal for the burrito chain.

But apparently, it’s an even bigger deal for Chipotle lovers and guacamole fans, who are finally paying attention to global warming now that their guacamole supply has been threatened.

Seriously, take a look below at guacamole fiends freaking out via Twitter.
