Thanks, Foodbeast, for bringing our attention to Lean Machine, a low-calorie, high-protein recovery drink that adds a little buzz (thanks to the addition of beer) to post-workout come downs.

The 0.5% ABV, 77 calorie drink will be available in Lager, Lemon Ale, Honey Ale, and Pepper Ale flavors.

If you’re worried about suffering from a gym hangover, fear not—a study published by December’s International Journal of Sports Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism pointed at the fact that electrolyte content has the ability to lower alcohol’s dehydrating effect.

But why beer? According to NPR, nutrients such as polyphenols (which boost the body’s immune function) found in barley, hops, and yeast benefit the body in ways the average Gatorade or Powerade can’t.

Unfortunately, Lean Machine has yet to be released to the general public, so until we can get our hands on a 12-ounce can, we’ll continue to avoid the gym (and stuff our faces with nachos.)
