McDonald’s wants you to eat breakfast all day, and now Taco Bell wants you to eat tacos for breakfast. The fast-food wars feel like they’re heating up again, and it feels like everyone is trying to get those Millennials through the door at every time of day. (Believe it or not, Jack in the Box has the late-night game on lock.)
For its latest gambit, Taco Bell has announced plans to roll out its Waffle Taco nationally beginning March 27.
USA Today reports, “[Taco Bell] is champing at the bit for its share of the $50 billion limited-service breakfast business. Taco Bell’s share of that breakfast market could be $700 million, estimates restaurant consulting firm Technomic.”
The Tex-Mex chain will roll out a breakfast menu that includes mostly portable items, so you can Tweet, check Tinder, and send all your friends a Snap Chat of you and your Waffle Taco simultaneously. But what about coffee? They need to get that Doritos Locos Coffee popping soon.
The new Taco Bell breakfast items include the following:
“A warm waffle wrapped around sausage or bacon, scrambled eggs, cheese and syrup.”
“Scrambled eggs, hash browns, cheese and bacon or sausage in a warm tortilla.”
“Poppable pastries filled with Cinnabon frosting and coated with sugar.”
“We’re going to reinvent breakfast,” insists Taco Bell President Brian Niccol. ‘We don’t use buns or burgers or circular things at breakfast—that’s not who we are.”
Here’s what the Twitterverse has to say about the new Taco Bell breakfast menu.

feel like it bodes well for our democracy that the entire DC press corps has spent at least 5m today workshopping a joke about a waffle taco
