In part one of the latest episode of Fresh Off The Boat, Eddie Huang heads to Shanghai. Huang ventures into the heart of the city where he meets with Qiuxiang Wang, “a humble street food vendor working to live in the city on her own terms.” Wang sells grilled skewers—which she preps for 7-8 hours before hitting the streets for another 8 hours. Wang tells Eddie that she leads a “very fulfilling life.”

Eddie goes onto feast on a midnight snack of Shanghai wontons, fried pork chops, grilled oysters, and lamb skewers at a popular nighttime market, and gets a glimpse into what life is like for those trying to keep homegrown markets alive.
