Some people consider their lives a success if they get out of bed and accomplish TV watching by the end of the day. That’s because they are not the Roca brothers, who are an entirely new class of workaholic. It’s paying off for them: Their Girona, Spain, restaurant, El Celler de Can Roca, was named one of the top 50 best restaurants in the world in 2013.
The brothers—Joan, Josep, and Jordi—are also the creative team behind El Somni (translation: The Dream), a culinary opera in 12 acts. El Somni was performed only once, last May. The idea was entirely new and highly conceptual. Set in an art gallery, the piece mixed cinematic effect with mythic tradition and gastronomic originality.
In an effort to open their drama to the world, the brothers will be releasing a documentary of the same name, set to premiere at the 2014 Berlinale Festival in the spring. The movie, created by Franc Aleu, is already receiving huge amounts of press. Eater reports that “tickets go on sale on February 3, and the ‘Culinary Cinema 2014′ portion of the festival runs from February 9 to February 14.”
Condé Nast Traveller reports:
But El Somni isn’t the only highly-anticipated food movie. Take a look at some other exciting food documentaries coming out in the near future.
