One could argue that French fries are the perfect food. They’re fried, carb-based, an appealing golden brown color, and great dipped in a variety of condiments. Fries are also a perfect vehicle for toppings—everything from cheese to gravy to chili. Fries come in a variety of shapes and flavors, including sweet potato, shoestring, and waffle cut. In England they’re called “chips,” in France they’re “frites,” and in Quebec they’re topped with cheese curds and gravy and called “Poutine” (aka the best late-night drunk food ever).
We love fries that come from all over the country, including French fries with wasabi mayo at Pommes Frites in NYC, well-done fries at The Apple Pan in Los Angeles, and the smoked meat poutine at Mile End in Brooklyn.
