Remember how NASA enlisted engineers to create a 3D food printer? Well, brace yourself, because it’s here. And it’s printing edible pizza.
So the printed pizza isn’t exactly you’re classic Margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella and a crisp and chewy crust, but it’s a start. The machine layers ketchup and cream cheese on top of a “layer of dough from a stock of simple, non-perishable ingredients.” Not too enticing at the moment, but who knows what’s in store for the future? Maybe, just maybe, in twenty years Zagat will come out with a list of the “10 Best 3D Printer Pizzas.”
We’re looking forward to more developments in printed food. Layered foods work best, so we’re thinking a huge hoagie should be the next edible 3d printer creation. Think they can print the mustard on the side?
