You didn’t know Brandon Huber before today, but the employee of Golden Corral has set off a viral sensation today with what he claims are videos showing some pretty revolting health-and-safety violations at the restaurant’s Port Orange, Florida location. Conclusive evidence that all of Hubert’s statements are true has yet to emerge, but if he’s for real, he’ll join the noble lineage of whistle-blowers exposing the unsavory conditions that birth your favorite chain meals. Back in the ’80s, a Washington McDonald’s was exposed in a rare documentary; more recently, in 2011, a Wendy’s employee released a behind-the-scenes video of his restaurant’s kitchen, claiming that it broke multiple health codes and created hazards for employees.

Huber took two videos: The first allegedly exposes Golden Corral’s tendency to store food outside next to the dumpster during health inspections, and the second shows Huber pleading to the camera because he’s “scared of his employment” and doesn’t know whom to tell.

Huber says, “I would not eat this stuff.”

The videos are pretty revealing, though Golden Corral has released a damage-control statement on its Facebook page claiming that, “1. The food in the video was never served to a single customer. 2. All of the food was thrown away immediately. 3. The employee in the video participated in disposing of the food. 4. The employee in the video – through his father – offered to sell the video. 5. The manager at the restaurant was terminated.” While none of these claims have been confirmed, plenty of Facebook commenters have questioned why the manager would be terminated if Golden Corral is denying the mishandling of their food. Hmm…

The bad press has steam-rolled for Golden Corral as a Reddit user started a thread, “Just an average day for a Golden Corral Employee, best working conditions ever!,” featuring a gallery of disastrous pictures, allegedly of a Golden Corral kitchen.
