If you thought the initial $450 price of the Starbucks limited-edition rose metal gift cards was exorbitant, brace yourself. The cards—which have only $400 of Starbucks credit on them—sold out in their initial release on Gilt.com faster than you could say “venti-non-fat-caramel-macchiato,” but now they’re back with a vengeance. Several of the metal cards are being sold on eBay for cray-cray prices ranging into the thousands. The highest going price on eBay for the moment is a cool $3,100 (no one has bid on this yet), but another Ebay listing recently ended with a card priced at $5,000 going unsold. People are putting higher and higher price tags on the gift cards, but the highest price an actual card was purchased for thus far was $2,075.

Yes, there are only 1000 of these cards in existence, so they’re a rare commodity. But $2,075 for $400 worth of coffee? Come on, guys, with that much money you could start your own food cart, buy over 400 cronuts, or (almost) get yourself a big ol’ Methusaleh bottle. Think about it, you coffee fiends, you.
