In the rap world, Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill is beefing with Drake. If you’re unfamiliar with why he’s doing it (or what figurative “beefing” even is), you can catch up on the details here.
The skinny of the conflict derives from Meek calling out Drake on Twitter for not writing his own raps. Drake stayed relatively quiet until this past weekend, when he released a vague diss record called “Charged Up” that was supposedly about Meek. Last night, he dropped his “Back To Back” freestyle, which was definitely about Meek; however, we’ll argue that the most salient part of the cut is actually this short line that’s about another alleged Drake detractor, The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne Tha God: “You’re gonna make me send bottles to Charlamagne.” In and of itself, the line only serves to queue up the savage disses Drizzy would later direct towards Meek on wax. However, what makes this line special is that Drake literally sent Charlamagne six bottles of Dom Perignon champagne.
This is important. Charlamagne is one of hip-hop’s loudest voices—for better or worse—and having C Tha God as an ally is a powerful look in rap. It allows Drake to potentially get onto Charlamagne’s insanely popular radio show, The Breakfast Club, and voice his side of the beef, while potentially silencing Meek’s (as far as the rap world is concerned).

With nearly everyone taking shots at Meek—including freaking Whataburger—Drake might’ve just landed the kill shot in this beef. [via Instagram]
