In episode 5 of That’s Odd, Let’s Drink It, host Sam Calagione links up with hip-hip icon N.O.R.E. to collaborate on a few very special beers. After firing up their palates with Liquid Truth Serum, a juicy and unfiltered IPA, the tandem dig deep into the crates of creativity by discussing the art of the (re)mix in both rap and brewing.
They concoct a couple of DIY masterpieces, which includes fusing the tart SeaQuench Ale with the coconut flavored Lupa-Luau (two Dogfish Head favorites); and putting a spin on the classic Black and Tan with a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and a Brooklyn Brown Ale. N.O.R.E. describes the remix best: “It’s like if Dr. Dre and Puff Daddy had a baby!”
Then, Sam and N.O.R.E. head to Seamstress; a legendary cocktail bar on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, known for its pause-worthy, hoppy creations. There, N.O.R.E. is surprised with a custom craft containing lime juice, pistachio milk, cane sugar, a splash of Henny, and Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA—some of his go-to ingredients. It truly is a beer cocktail built for the Queens native.
