For Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione, good music inspires good beer—and vice versa, it turns out. In episode 2 of That’s Odd, Let’s Drink It, Calagione travels to Oklahoma City, home of legendary rock band The Flaming Lips, where he sits down with the group's frontman Wayne Coyne to sample a few special brews. With the spirit of collaboration (and Oklahoma City) running deep in each of the beers, Sam and Wayne discuss the art of collaboration, including the band's experiences with Miley Cyrus and Chris Martin.

With creative synergy being the theme of today’s episode, Dogfish Head and The Flaming Lips joined forces to make an exciting brew of their own called Dragons & YumYums. Accompanied by a song penned by Coyne, where the dragonfruit and yumberry ingredients are transformed into fantastical characters, the tropical pale ale is light and tart—an ideal summertime drink.

The final phase of Dogfish and Coyne’s collaboration entails something that has never been done before. The song Coyne wrote is pressed into a limited-edition vinyl record that's been injected with the beer itself.
