If you’re from Boston, few things will make your heart beat faster than the thought of a collaboration between Red Sox legend David Ortiz and the New England Patriots’ Rob Gronkowski.
Sure, the duo could’ve made a line for Under Armour or started some sort of sports radio talk show. But today they’ve achieved an even greater goal: Recording a series of songs about their love for Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee.
“Summer Chill” is the debut musical collaboration between two of New England’s most famous athletes, with the duo stepping behind the mic for the first time to sing (yes, sing) a number of songs celebrating the caffeinated treat.
“When Dunkin’ Donuts came up with the idea about making an album, I figured someone must have been listening to me singing in the clubhouse,” said Big Papi. “Then they told me it was with my boy Gronk and the first thing I wondered was how I could try to match his legendary dance moves. Here is to hoping Summer Chill can help kick off a great summer for all New Englanders.“
The video for the song’s title track features many amazing images, including the pair riding a stationary tandem bike; a giant iced coffee playing the guitar poolside; and a particularly impressive “cup solo” from Ortiz.
Enjoy the video below, then prepare yourself for other iced coffee-themed tracks from the album scheduled to drop throughout the summer.
