Sometimes, you just need a caffeine fix, and it doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re doing.

At the Hopman Cup, held yesterday in Western Australia, Serena Williams ordered a coffee at the end of the first set. The tennis pro said, “Is it illegal to order an espresso? I mean, I don’t know if it’s allowed—is it allowed? I’m tired.”

After Williams ordered the double shot “as black as it gets,” the announcer commented, “This is one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.”

CNN explains,

“The World No. 1 was not her usual self in the opening stages as she lost the first set of the match to love—a ‘bagel’—leading her to request an espresso to help blow away the cobwebs. The hot drink seemed to do the trick, as Williams went on to dominate Pennetta, dropping just three more games and going on to win 0-6 6-3 6-0.”

It’s been a big week for Australians and coffee, given that Starbucks just announced it would begin serving flat whites in the U.S.
