Good news, Sriracha fans! Rogue Sriracha Hot Stout Beer has officially been released as of Monday. Also, Rogue thinks this could be its fastest-selling beer ever.
Unfortunately, release is limited—it’s currently only available at Rogue’s Portland pubs and via the Rogue online store.
On the face of it, making a sriracha beer may seem like a ridiculous mashup. Sriracha has been showing up in every context for the past few years, to the point where it’s almost as ubiquitous as bacon.
But try to think about it from Huy Fong’s POV: if people love your product so much that something like the Sriracha2Go portable sriracha keychain exists, doesn’t it make sense to just license that rooster and make money off the products people are going to put it on and in anyway?
For its part, Rogue of course went right to the source and got the proper rooster sauce, no sub-par substitutes accepted. We respect that, because when it’s all said and done, you really just have to respect the rooster.
Rogue fans who don’t live in the Portland area have been asking on Twitter and Facebook if and when they can expect to find the Sriracha Hot Stout Beer somewhere closer to them. The brewery’s stock answer seems to be “we’re working on it,” with no further details given to date.
WWMT spoke to Michael Higgins, Rogue’s Director of Liquid Development—and coincidentally owner of the best job title ever—about the new brew:

As for us, we’ll wait patiently for what’s probably the perfect thing to go with our bag of sriracha popcorn.
