With the weather we’ve been having, it’s a little hard to tell that we’re technically a little over a month into this mysterious season we call spring. In New York, we’ve only had about a week of sun so far. It’s so frustrating, it’s driven us to drink. But at least in that sense, we can find a little springtime.
Spring seasonal beers span a wide range of styles. As Jimmy Carbone of Jimmy’s No. 43 and Beer Sessions Radio points out, spring beers include a number of traditional styles, including maibock and biere de mars. But he also concedes that local breweries have started developing more modern styles to fit the season.
After discussing what makes a spring beer great, Jimmy and I came up with a list of standout seasonal options that’ll at least give you the impression of spring—even if New York City’s weather isn’t cooperating.
