On February 3, many of us will be upholding the annual tradition of watching the Super Bowl in our living rooms, while feasting on nachos, beer, and maybe some Buffalo wings. For the lucky ones who get to witness the showdown between the 49ers and Ravens live in New Orleans, NOLA has a few suggestions on where to eat and drink while in town.
For writer-turned-tour-guide Chris Waddington, kicking things off with a good drink is imperative. Putting himself in the shoes of visitors, he figures they should know that the local approach toward restaurant selection revolves around booze as much as food. He provides quite a few drink recommendations broken down by neighborhood.
On the grub front, there’s a comprehensive guide with 100 possibilities. Waddington points to some of the town’s new restaurants, especially those along “the walkable swath of galleries, hotels, highrise buildings and museums that sits between the Superdome and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.” He sees this development as a signal to visitors of how far New Orleans has come since Katrina.
