Now that we’re well into the second week of 2013, we can brush aside food and drink trend speculations that are as accurate as a Magic 8 Ball. Instead, here’s one emerging trend based more on fact than guesswork: It looks like the City of Angels is priming to shake its reputation as a craft-beer desert, with only small pockets of good brews in Eagle Rock, Long Beach, and Atwater Village. LA Weekly highlights six beer companies doing their part to connect the dots across the Southland—a development that is particularly essential in a city where driving is still a reality of life.
On the cusp of re-opening, Angel City Brewing in Downtown will soon do Arts District and Little Tokyo residents a favor by providing another alternative when Würstkuche is packed and Weliand’s isn’t an option. Just outside of Downtown, beer nerds are awaiting the opening of L.A. River Brewing Company in Culver City (pending a successful Kickstarter push) and Ohana Brewing in Alhambra.
