When it opened last year, Heart Attack Grill—a fast-food joint in Vegas serving 9,982-calorie Quadruple Bypass Burger, butterfat milkshakes, and Jell-O shots in syringes—achieved exactly what it set out to do: kicking up a massive media shitstorm.

To look back on all the madness, Eater Vegas caught up with owner Jon Basso, a.k.a. Dr. Jon, for a very amusing chat. After kicking things off with one of the longest interview answers ever, he goes on to talk about pissed-off guests, costumes, and the possibility of Heart Attack Airlines.

Amid all the manic bluster, he actually makes some good points about media and personal responsibility in America, all the while keeping it pretty real about his intentions:

If the media was as repulsed by me as they claim to be, all they would have to do is ignore, me. But for their own greedy purposes, because they need content, they have opted to take gallons of gasoline and throw it on this one little match, which I was, and now they are making it into a forest fire. And they are doing it for their own greedy gain, saying I’m an evil rotten person, but the fact of the matter is I’m here to absolutely make money. Just like everyone else when they go to work. To make money.

There’s much more where that came from. Go read the whole interview over at Eater Vegas.
