This would be kinda cute if it weren’t supporting a racist: Paula Deen fans from across the country have launched a Butter for Paula campaign whereby supporters are encouraged to send empty butter wrappers to the headquarters of companies that have cut ties with the embattled Southern chef. The “We support Paula Deen” Facebook page is chock full of photos, which are presumably inundating the offices of Home Depot, Sears, and Wal-Mart as we type.
There’s also a stock letter addressed to “Butter Wrapper Recipient” that Deen supporters are encouraged to send in along with their symbolic show of support. The key excerpt: “Each butter wrapper that you receive represents the voice of millions of loyal Paula Deen fans across America. A company without Paula, is like a butter wrapper without butter. We’re ashamed and outraged at the media’s careless and negligent handling and reporting which has caused pain and devastation in so many innocent lives.”
Multimillionaire chef embarrassed by her own appalling racism, devastated innocent life: same difference.
