What do Jay-Z, Andy Warhol, and Plato have in common? They’ve all been immortalized in Wonderbread (unless Wonderbread is perishable, which it probably isn’t) by Oakland-based Polish artist Milena Korolczuk. Though film and photography are her usual obsessions, she recently set her eyes on Wonderbread as a muse, probably inspired by the product’s weird ability to be squished from a whole slice into a tiny, tightly packed ball with minimal effort. However she came up with it, we’re impressed—these tiny blobs of compressed bread are incredible, and she brings them to life with astonishing detail, including cheekbones, strands of hair, perfectly-shaped eyes, and lifelike expressions. And adding to the realism, they’re each photographed amidst the heap of crust and bread they popped out of. As Michelangelo said, “Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it. ” Clearly, Korolczuk feels the same way about slices of bread.

What’s more art: Jay-Z and Marina Abramović sculpted out of bread, or Jay-Z rapping into Marina Abramović’s face? Click through the gallery above to decide.
