You can’t really go wrong with booze-infused anything. Such is the case with Food52‘s brilliant recipe for maple popcorn, which is elevated by the incorporation of delicious pancetta—basically Italian bacon— and Jack Daniel’s whiskey.

This recipe won’t exactly liquor you up. Instead, the whiskey adds a nice aromatic syrup, the dry roasted peanuts give the snack extra crunch, and the pancetta adds a sweet-and-salty flavor dimension. Give this heavenly recipe a go next time movie night rolls around.

The Perfect Boozy Popcorn

Makes 2 quarts

  • 3 ½ tablespoons bacon grease, or non-flavored vegetable oil
  • ½ cup popcorn kernels
  • ⅓ cup Jack Daniels
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 3 pieces pancetta, baked until crispy and minced

Peanuts, Jack Daniels, pancetta, popcorn, peppercorns, and maple syrup.
After emulsifying the sauce, season it with pepper.
Combining the tasty trio: popcorn, pancetta, and peanuts.
You should add the syrup in a thin stream while folding together the popcorn mixture. You don’t want to let the popcorn melt.
Looks pretty awesome, amirite?
