Still think Whole Foods is a supermarket safe haven—a place where you, your Pomeranian, and your yoga mat can walk around feeling secure? Think again.

According to the NYPD, a pair of armed robbers held up employees at a Whole Foods Market on Bowery and Houston on Sunday night and made off with more than $60,000 cash, reports NBC New York.

There were three employees transporting roughly $60,000 in cash across the supermarket floor at around 10pm using shopping carts. Two thieves were waiting for them when the elevator doors opened. When the doors opened, “one of the robbers pointed a gun at the workers and told them to get to the ground. A second suspect grabbed one of the employees and bound his hands behind his back. Then, police say, they took the cash and left the store, fleeing onto Chrystie Street.”

Here’s were it gets interesting: The NY Post reports that the robbery may have been an inside job.

A store worker said that the robbery may have been an inside job, noting that a coworker saw the perps leave through the receiving door.

“They ran from the receiving door which no one outside the store knows about,” the worker said. “They know parts of the store that we only know.”

He also said that his co-worker claimed to see one of the men casing the store a few weeks ago wearing the same “dreadlocks and bad, fake beard.”

Whole Foods wouldn’t confirm any details, only that the supermarket was robbed at gunpoint.
