If, like me, you survive the entire week on the bounties of your freezer, then you’ll want to take a few minutes to marvel at the wonder of frozen food and watch this nerdy— but wholly entertaining—video about its history by the folks over at Minute Earth. (I wish all my science and history lessons in school had been this cool.)

The next time I open my freezer to take out frozen berries and ice for a quick Friday night mixed-berry margherita, I’ll be thanking Mr. Birdseye for bringing the North Pole to my kitchen
