The Chefs Who Won Social Media This Week

  • If you got any closer to this white pie with bacon, potato, spinach, and Pepper Jack, you’d burn your eyes. (Photo: @wildcraftpizza)
  • ‘That’s A-Morel!’ (Photo: @Craft_NewYork)
  • Chef Matthew Jennings made some Rhode Island squid and Connecticut ramps at Farmstead Inc. Some things you can’t unsee, and some things you don’t want to.
  • This little strawberry diddy is anything but simple. (Photo: @thedutchmiami)
  • Restaurant Daniel had to go Pic Stitch mode to show all the party happenings from the 20th anniversary of Daniel Boulud's flagship restaurant.
  • Alder does Cinco de Drinko with Shamrock Amigos, and we're fine with that.
  • Chris Cosentino wants you to see this lamb belly with porcini and ramps. Did you see it? Good.
  • Now that’s a pie. We’re gonna take a wild guess and say it’s a sugar cream pie? (Photo: @proofbakeryla)
  • This BBQ mountain is so big @chefconor couldn’t even fit the dish in the frame of this pic.
  • If getting a bready thank-you note from Ina Garten straight from Paris isn’t the good life, then asparagus with crab near Mt. Etna definitely is. (Photo: @tylerflorence)
  • Did you know strawberry pillows of happiness are on the menu at Doughnut Plant? Strawberry is on the menu at Doughnut Plant.
  • You had us at yuzu cherrysicle soft serve… (Photo: @momomilkbar)
  • Scott Conant shows us a polenta and quail board like no other. We don’t recall ever seeing a polenta and quail board before, but that’s beside the point.
  • @Lafayette380 showcases a work of dessert art, which we’ve deduced is probably the mango coupe with coconut ice and lime.

Following friends who eat out a lot on Instagram and Twitter is one way to stay on top of the food scene, but why not go straight to the source? Chefs are just as likely to wield smartphones as Japanese knives these days, and they often bring you behind the scenes at their restaurants, tweeting brand-new specials, off-the-menu creations, and experimental dishes in the works.

This week was something of a party time for chefs and restaurants. There were the James Beard Awards, “Cinco de Drinko,” the Derby, and even a blowout brunch bash for Daniel Boulud’s 20-year anniversary in New York. Thankfully, the Boulud team treated us to a few party pics, while chefs like Chris Cosentino and Andrew Carmellini laid out some impressive spring-time spreads. Click through the gallery above for your almost-weekend Internet feast. You’ve earned it.
