Just as you thought that the celeb-fueled cruise craze might finally have reached its peak with the cancellation of R. Kelly’s Love Letter Cruise, Nobu Matsuhisa—he of miso-glazed black cod fame—has decided to lead a cruise of his own. The tagline is not, but maybe should be, “Say goodbye to steamship standards like lobster thermidor and baked Alaska; say hello to Japanese-Peruvian fusion!”
This July, up to 940 passengers will join the restaurateur aboard the “Crystal Symphony” for a 12-night trip leaving from the coast of Italy. During the “Bounties of the Black Seas” cruise, Nobu will lead cooking demonstrations, mingle with passengers, and make appearances at the ships Silk Road restaurant and Sushi Bar (which he helped to design).
With prices starting at $5,510 per person, it won’t be the most budget vacation you ever take… but hey, at least the food will (maybe) probably be good. (However, with all that raw fish, everyone will be screwed if this happens.)
