Growing Food Underground [via Nat Geo Food]

One hundred feet below London, old World War II bomb shelters have been turned into a sustainable farm. It’s a hydroponic farm powered by LED lights, and all the power for the LEDs comes from renewable energy. The underground farm’s co-founder says, “If you project into the future 10, 20, or 30 years, and how people will be dining then, people will become more and more and more aware of the environment around us.”—Erin Mosbaugh
