Stephen Starr Backs Questlove’s New Fried Chicken Joint

Remember that time when Questlove went head to head with David Chang in an epically cool battle for the best fried chicken? Well we do, and now the Root’s drummer is taking his updated recipe (Ahmir’s been working on it since Chang beat him last year) public with a new venture backed by Philadelphia-based restauranteur Stephen Starr. The project is launching next month in Chelsea Market, and Questlove is already being vocal abo ut it via Twitter, “You asked for it … you got it: gourmet food for the eclectic palette comes to Chelsea Market.”

And while fried chicken is always exciting, whats even bigger news is the backing by Starr. The mega-restaurateur know for joints like Buddakan and Morimoto (both of which have NYC locations in Chelsea Market) has mad clout in Philly. How long until Questo’s fried poultry finds a home in the city of brotherly love? We really can’t say, but looking at Starr’s track record, we’re speculating that it will come faster than a new Roots’ record.
