You may know James Oseland the Top Chef Masters judge, James Oseland the editor-in-chief of Saveur, and James Oseland the cookbook author. But have you met James Oseland the photographer? The culinary jack-of-all trades doesn’t just wax eloquently about all things edible; turns out, he’s pretty damn good at capturing it all on camera as well.

Before his editorial days at Vogue, Organic Style, Sassy, the Village Voice, Mademoiselle, and eventually Saveur, James Oseland studied film at the San Francisco Art Institute, and it shows in his favorite photos from his globe-trotting portfolio.

Gritty, action-packed, and visceral, these shots play out like cinéma vérité, and they cover an amazing range of subjects around the world. With a camera always at the ready, Oseland gives fresh milk-based tea in India a heavenly aura; captures a small moment filled with big laughs and big, flaky triangles of spanakopita; and much more.
